Uno de los primeros pasos que muchas personas dan cuando empiezan a entrenar y buscan una buena nutrición en su dieta es eliminar los carbohidratos . Hay muchos mitos sobre el miedo a este nutriente, pero hoy diremos la verdad. A continuación veremos si debemos eliminar los carbohidratos de nuestra dieta.

¿Son necesarios los carbohidratos?

Sí, los carbohidratos son necesarios para nuestro sistema. Tienen una función primaria debido a las siguientes características:

  • Cuando consumimos carbohidratos, se utilizan como reserva de energía y producen la glucosa que necesitamos en cualquier momento. Esto significa que si consumimos la cantidad adecuada de carbohidratos, éstos se quemarán fácilmente.
  • Proporcionar proteínas . Al utilizar los carbohidratos como el combustible que nuestro cuerpo necesita cuando quiere más energía, las proteínas pueden ser utilizadas para alimentar el crecimiento muscular, por ejemplo.
  • S son obligatorios para los tejidos . La mayoría de los carbohidratos se utilizan para formar tejidos de nuestro cuerpo que involucran al sistema nervioso.

  • Ayuda a prevenir cuerpos cetónicos . Cuando no consumimos carbohidratos, el cuerpo utiliza la grasa para obtener energía y esto lleva a la creación de residuos conocidos como cetonas que, a largo plazo, pueden producir arritmias cardíacas y osteoporosis, entre otras complicaciones. Estos cuerpos cetónicos son imposibles de eliminar por sí mismos.
  • La celulosa que se encuentra en los carbohidratos regula el tránsito intestinal , lo que es beneficioso para muchas otras cosas, como la prevención del cáncer de colon.

¿Qué pasa con la’casi’ eliminación de los carbohidratos de nuestra dieta?

Hay que tener en cuenta que no todos los carbohidratos son iguales, y que unos pueden perjudicar nuestra salud más que otros, especialmente porque pueden causar obesidad cuando se consumen en exceso.

Si eliminamos los excesos – NO HABLAMOS PARA ELIMINAR TODOS LOS CARBOIDRATOS, PERO INGERIMOS MODERALMENTE el pan, el arroz, la pasta y la harina , y comemos más verduras, granos enteros y nueces – vamos a dar a nuestro cuerpo los nutrientes necesarios y obtener estos beneficios:

Quemaremos grasa

Como dijimos, los carbohidratos se almacenan para crear una reserva de energía, pero cuando consumimos menos calorías de las que quemamos, el cuerpo también comenzará a quemar grasa, que se reflejará en nuestro cuerpo.

Sin embargo, ya hemos visto que se trata de una espada de doble filo, porque los cuerpos cetónicos aparecen si sólo quemamos grasa. Por lo tanto, debemos encontrar un equilibrio entre las grasas que quemamos y los carbohidratos que consumimos.

Se saciará

Aunque muchos creen que, para perder peso, uno debe morir de hambre, esto es una gran mentira . La idea es sentirse saciado comiendo menos. Una de las razones por las que queremos comer más es porque nuestros niveles de azúcar disminuyen debido a los alimentos que generan insulina, como los carbohidratos.

Por lo tanto, limitar la ingesta de carbohidratos y aumentar la ingesta de grasas saludables puede hacer que nos sintamos menos hambrientos al comer menos. Un buen aliado para esto son las nueces , por ejemplo, que proporcionan ambas y son una excelente merienda entre comidas.

Alimente sus músculos

Ciertamente, reducir la cantidad de carbohidratos y comer más proteínas alimentará sus músculos. Los carbohidratos no tienen un porcentaje de proteína, así que no le ayudarán a ganar masa muscular.

Siempre que hablamos de evitar o eliminar los carbohidratos, estamos hablando de los de tipo refinado que provienen de la harina, el azúcar o el almidón. Como hemos visto, los carbohidratos son necesarios para nuestro cuerpo, así que debemos reducir la ingesta de alimentos refinados, pero aumentar la de los que se encuentran en los cereales, nueces, verduras y frutas.
