Hoy en día hay muchas maneras de comer. Nos sumergiremos en una tendencia que se basa no sólo en nutrir el cuerpo, sino también la mente y las emociones: la nutrición holística.

La nutrición holística es un estilo de vida que comprende los alimentos como un todo que incluye aspectos físicos, emocionales y espirituales como un todo. Observa el cuerpo como un sistema, como una sinergia entre estos aspectos y no como la individualidad de cada uno.

Este sistema nutricional surge con el propósito de terminar con el estilo de vida actual que nos está causando tantos problemas de salud. Su base es una nutrición natural y más apropiada para nuestro cuerpo.

Principios esenciales

La nutrición holística recomienda el consumo de alimentos sanos, orgánicos, frescos y de temporada. Aconseja incluir frutas y verduras de diferentes colores; así como una mayor cantidad de proteínas vegetales.

Tenemos como ejemplos de proteínas vegetales las que están presentes en los granos, cereales y semillas; especialmente las que están germinadas.

También podemos incluir semillas oleaginosas , tés e infusiones de hierbas, algas y especias . Como cúrcuma, jengibre, pimienta, canela y clavo de olor, entre otros.

Además, la nutrición también presta atención a técnicas culinarias sanas , para que se pueda conservar la máxima cantidad de nutrientes y, por lo tanto, también las propiedades de cada alimento.

Este tipo de alimentación se basa en escuchar al cuerpo y aprender de él; es decir, aprender a alimentarse de una manera que sea buena para nuestro cuerpo y que le dé lo que necesita en cada momento.

De esta manera, se pretende evitar todo tipo de malos hábitos alimenticios, ya que el cuerpo se adapta y evita los desequilibrios nutricionales.

Además de todo esto, es necesario destacar tres pilares:

1. Comer todo: comer todos los grupos de alimentos mencionados, priorizando siempre las verduras, cereales y frutas, así como las proteínas de origen animal.

2. No pasar hambre . El volumen de cada comida debe adaptarse a nuestro cuerpo.

3. Hacer ejercicio físico. Nos ayuda a perder peso y a mantener un peso saludable, además de ayudarnos a mejorar nuestra salud en general.

¿Cómo es la nutrición holística

?

Como se mencionó anteriormente, la nutrición holística entiende los alimentos como un todo, teniendo en cuenta los aspectos emocionales, espirituales y físicos.

Aunque para cada individuo esta base es la misma y la dieta está compuesta de los mismos alimentos, es un hecho que las necesidades energéticas y nutricionales de cada uno serán diferentes.

Así que antes de empezar a comer sin control, tenemos que determinar cuáles son nuestras necesidades. Una dieta holística debe estar compuesta de:

  • Proteínas principalmente de origen vegetal.
  • Los carbohidratos se encuentran, por ejemplo, en cereales y legumbres, como la principal fuente de energía.
  • Grasas de aceites vírgenes y oleaginosos.
  • Frutas y verduras para un buen suministro de vitaminas, minerales y, además, fibra, muy importante para el sistema digestivo.

Otras consideraciones

Las preparaciones culinarias, como ya se ha mencionado , deben ser simples. Cuanto menos elaborados y procesados sean los productos en nuestras comidas, mejor será para nuestro organismo, tanto física como emocionalmente.

También es muy importante recordar que este tipo de nutrición será la clave para conocer nuestro cuerpo y saber qué necesita en cada momento, es decir, seremos conscientes de lo que cada alimento nos proporciona y las opciones siempre serán beneficiosas.

De la misma manera que hablamos de ejercicio físico, el organismo también necesita descansar para estar sano, por lo que este principio será indispensable para este estilo de vida.

Por último, pero no menos importante, puesto que ya hemos dicho cómo este sistema entiende a la persona como un todo, debemos prestar atención a nuestro cuerpo y mente con la naturaleza.

El estilo de vida actual nos deja sin tiempo para estar en contacto con la naturaleza, lo que a menudo puede ser determinante e incluso asociado a un mayor riesgo de desarrollar diferentes patologías.

El objetivo final de la nutrición holística o alimentación es educar a las personas para que aprendan a comer adecuadamente y de forma personalizada, para que podamos cuidarnos a largo plazo.
