¿Es usted un hombre delgado y metabólicamente obeso?


Un metabolicamente obeso delgado es más común de lo que podemos imaginar, aunque parezca extraño. Muchos de ustedes se preguntarán quiénes son estas personas. Podríamos definirlos como personas que no tienen sobrepeso, pero que tienen un exceso de grasa en sus cuerpos.

Aunque el IMC se correlaciona con el porcentaje de grasa corporal, siempre hay personas con un IMC y un peso normal, pero que pueden ser delgadas y metabólicamente obesas.

El adelgazador metabólicamente obeso es una persona con un IMC inferior a 25, pero con adiposidad abdominal-visceral, resistencia a la insulina, presión arterial alta, un menor nivel de actividad física y un perfil lipídico aterogénico.

Las personas obesas metabólicamente delgadas demuestran que ser delgadas no significa estar sanas y que, además del peso, lo que importa son otros parámetros, como el porcentaje de grasa corporal.

Grasa delgada

Grasa flaca es la forma en que se llama coloquialmente a las personas flacas y de buen cuerpo con baja masa muscular . El término médico es Obeso Metabólico con Peso Normal (MOPN).

La salud de estas personas puede llegar a ser tan vulnerable que «es mejor ser gordo y atlético que delgado y sin condición», como señala el Dr. Mark Hyman en un artículo de The Huffington Post. Y la razón es que el cuerpo puede almacenar varios tipos de grasa.

Uno de los factores que pueden llevar a esta condición es el consumo de algunos tipos de carbohidratos y la consiguiente producción de insulina; esto favorece la aparición de grasa visceral , y cambios metabólicos que causan inflamación y pérdida muscular.

A su vez, este tejido adiposo favorece la resistencia a la insulina, una sustancia que regula los niveles de azúcar en sangre . La presencia de grasa visceral crea la condición ideal para desarrollar diabetes, independientemente de la altura y el peso.

Un estudio publicado en 2012 por la revista científica Journal of American Academy of Pediatrics , demostró que el 61% de los adolescentes con peso normal incluidos en un estudio padecían al menos una enfermedad relacionada con el alto nivel de grasa corporal.

Estamos hablando de hipertensión, prediabetes o colesterol alto. En el caso de los jóvenes con sobrepeso y obesos, las cifras fueron menores, 37% y 49%, respectivamente.

Soluciones para evitar ser una persona delgada y metabólicamente obesa

El primer cambio está en su dieta : incluya en su dieta proteínas animales (pollo, huevos o pescado), semillas, verduras y frutas en abundancia.

También es necesario reducir el consumo de refrescos, jugos procesados y alcohol – son una fuente importante de calorías y azúcar.

Además, debe aumentar la cantidad de proteína en cada comida , especialmente en el desayuno. Comenzar el día con proteínas animales o vegetales le permite controlar el deseo de comer y acelerar su metabolismo.

Los ácidos grasos omega 3 , que se encuentran en las sardinas y el salmón, entre otros alimentos, son esenciales para el control del colesterol.

Para complementar estos cambios , además de comer bien, debe hacer ejercicio, especialmente ejercicios cardiovasculares – nadar, correr o montar en bicicleta – o ejercicios para fortalecer sus músculos. Todo esto ayudará a controlar la grasa visceral.

Como puede ver, ser un delgado metabólicamente obeso se debe en parte al estilo de vida. No olvide que también hay factores genéticos que influyen en ello.

Vaya a su médico para que le realice un análisis de glucosa en sangre, triglicéridos, colesterol, presión arterial y sepa si usted es o no un flaco . Además del porcentaje de grasa corporal, que se mide con escalas o medidores especiales, existen otras pruebas más importantes.
