Esta pregunta tiene múltiples respuestas, dependiendo de quién la conteste. Por un lado, encontramos a los defensores acérrimos de estos polvos o cápsulas mágicas, principalmente personas que hacen entrenamiento con pesas.

Por otro lado, tenemos personas que afirman que son más un problema que una solución debido a cómo los suplementos afectan a nuestro cuerpo, es decir, sus múltiples efectos secundarios.

A menudo, las dosis o ingredientes no se tienen en cuenta a la hora de incluir este tipo de producto en la dieta. La ingesta incorrecta, tanto excesiva como deficiente, puede causar muchos problemas de salud.

Incluso se convierte en una adicción: cuando dejas de consumir estos suplementos, el cuerpo vuelve al punto de partida y, por lo tanto, parece que nunca has sido capaz de levantar ni una pesa de un kilo en toda tu vida.

Es necesario tomar en serio este aspecto ya que la forma en que los suplementos afectan a nuestro organismo y los efectos secundarios de este tipo de productos pueden ser graves e irreversibles.

Estamos hablando de problemas renales (que llevan a la necesidad de diálisis o hemodiálisis más tarde), problemas hepáticos (ya que el hígado no puede procesar las sustancias que recibe) o incluso disfunciones sexuales. Y estos son sólo algunos de ellos.

Suplementos y proteínas: ¿benefician o dañan?

La proteína es una de las opciones disponibles entre los complementos alimenticios y también una de las más consumidas. La presentación más común es en cápsulas, aunque también se puede ingerir en forma de batido.

En este último caso, se convierte en un aperitivo para pre o post entrenamiento y se puede encontrar en diferentes sabores (por ejemplo, fresa, vainilla, chocolate, etc.).

Básicamente, la proteína actúa en el organismo generando tejidos y ayudando en el aumento de la masa muscular y en la reducción de la grasa o tejido adiposo.

Sin embargo, no todo son flores, como se las llama popularmente, ya que estos suplementos pueden causar efectos adversos.

Ahora, la única opción para ser musculoso es tomar ese tipo de proteínas? Los expertos indican que no lo es, ya que dentro de la dieta común es posible encontrar este nutriente: la pechuga de pollo es el ejemplo más claro de esto.

Lo que sucede en el caso de consumir proteínas naturales (o al menos no 100% artificiales) es que los resultados tardan en llegar. Por otro lado, las personas que toman suplementos notan la diferencia después de unos pocos días.

Sin embargo, es ciertamente necesario tomar batidos o cápsulas todos los días para que, de esta manera, sea posible conservar todo lo que se ha logrado.
