Es esencial cuidar el cuerpo tanto como sea posible , porque sólo tendremos uno en nuestra vida. Pero tampoco podemos olvidarnos de la conexión entre el cuerpo y la mente.

Si hacemos eso, entonces probablemente notaremos que nuestra mente se volverá más clara, más creativa, positiva y satisfecha. Este fenómeno médico conocido como conexión mente-cuerpo es una de las claves para encontrar el bienestar.

Los sentimientos, las emociones, el estrés y los acontecimientos que nos ocurren durante todo el día no son triviales, y por lo tanto tienen su reflejo en nuestra salud.

Historia de la conexión entre cuerpo y mente

Hasta el siglo XIX, los médicos consideraban seriamente la idea de que las emociones estaban relacionadas con la enfermedad; por lo que era común observar «recetas de vacaciones» para las zonas costeras y otros lugares de descanso.

Esta creencia se basaba en la teoría de que controlando las emociones, el cuerpo se mantendría sano. Lo importante es encontrar un ejercicio que te guste y que tenga estos efectos en ti, ya sea zombie, entrenamiento con pesas, correr o artes marciales.

Una vez que hayamos encontrado la actividad que más nos gusta, será más fácil convertirla en una rutina que tenga un impacto saludable en el cuerpo y la mente; aunque al principio parezca difícil.

¿Por qué meditar?

Es común que las preocupaciones de la vida diaria nos mantengan frunciendo el ceño o sumergidos en un estado de ansiedad; también afectan la manera en que nuestro cuerpo produce y sintetiza las hormonas que afectan nuestra felicidad.

La atención consciente nos ayuda a enfocarnos en la realidad del momento que estamos viviendo , a considerarla correctamente sin juzgarla y a resolver problemas y preocupaciones reales, dándoles otros nombres y asignando a otras personas responsables.

¿En qué se basan estas prácticas? Siempre en la respiración; un elemento fundamental para la conexión entre cuerpo y mente.

Respira, tómate un momento para escuchar a tu cuerpo y dejar que responda a los estímulos de tu mente.

Nuestra condición corporal actual

Hoy en día, como destacan muchos centros de control y prevención de enfermedades, aproximadamente el 35% de la población adulta tiene sobrepeso.

La obesidad es un camino hacia enfermedades como la depresión, la hipertensión, la diabetes, ciertos tipos de cáncer y otras enfermedades crónicas.

La importancia de las endorfinas

El ejercicio físico nos proporciona beneficios tanto a corto como a largo plazo. Michael Otto, doctor en psicología de la Universidad de Boston, dijo:

Además, cabe señalar que las endorfinas también causan una sensación de felicidad similar a la sensación causada por el uso de la morfina.

Por lo tanto, cuando nos sentimos estresados, deprimidos y derrotados por problemas cotidianos, es importante recordar que el estrés tendrá un impacto negativo en el cuerpo y, por lo tanto, en nuestra salud, y que el ejercicio puede combatirlo.

En resumen, una forma de aliviar el estrés es a través del ejercicio físico ; ayudará no sólo a calmar la mente, sino también al cuerpo y a restaurar nuestra salud.
