El hábito de hacer ejercicio y seguir una dieta tiene beneficios para la salud : ayuda a bajar de peso y a evitar molestias y muchas enfermedades. Además, la dieta aporta más energía, una sensación de felicidad, una mayor autoestima, un mejor estado de ánimo e incluso una vida más larga.

Sin embargo, no siempre es fácil incorporar un estilo de vida saludable a nuestra vida diaria. En primer lugar, es importante saber en qué consiste una dieta saludable, cómo ponerla en práctica y por qué la dieta aporta beneficios para la salud.

Hay numerosas dietas que se han puesto de moda, pero que definitivamente no son saludables e incluso pueden poner en riesgo nuestra salud. A continuación, veremos algunos elementos para entender mejor lo que es una dieta realmente saludable.

Qué tipo de dieta trae beneficios para la salud

Una dieta saludable debe ser variada, equilibrada y nutritiva. Debe incorporar alimentos que sean pobres en grasas saturadas, colesterol y sodio, y otros que proporcionen nutrientes, vitaminas, minerales, ácidos grasos esenciales y fibra.

En tal dieta hay ciertos alimentos básicos. No deben faltar frutas, verduras, cereales, aceite de oliva, semillas oleaginosas, productos lácteos, carnes magras, pescado y marisco.

Si el consumo de estos productos va acompañado de ejercicio físico, tendremos los grandes aliados de nuestra salud, especialmente del corazón y del cerebro. Además, estos hábitos ayudan a reducir el riesgo de padecer ciertos tipos de cáncer.

Una dieta saludable también contribuye a lograr un peso adecuado , mejorando nuestra apariencia física y aumentando nuestra autoestima y confianza en nosotros mismos. Sin embargo, nuestra dieta debe ir acompañada de ejercicio físico, y debemos ser constantes en estos hábitos saludables.

Algunas dietas pueden ser dañinas

¿Todas las dietas traen beneficios para la salud? No! cuando se trata de perder peso, muchas personas se dejan llevar por varias ofertas de dietas mágicas o milagrosas.

Desde dietas de moda, como la que recomienda comer sólo piñas durante tres días, hasta una plétora de medicamentos y productos; no faltan las promesas de perder peso al instante.

Las dietas muy restrictivas son difíciles de seguir y la mayoría de las personas pronto se dan por vencidas. Además, suelen causar un efecto acordeón : tras una impresionante pérdida de peso inicial, el organismo recupera su peso anterior o incluso aumenta de peso.

Además, los medicamentos, hierbas, cremas y otros productos que prometen hacernos perder peso «milagrosamente» pueden poner en riesgo nuestra salud.

Debemos tener en cuenta que la única manera de perder peso de forma segura y mantenerlo a largo plazo es seguir una dieta equilibrada y un estilo de vida saludable.

Probablemente los efectos no se percibirán de inmediato ni serán tan drásticos, pero aquellos que adopten este estilo de vida, acompañado de una buena nutrición y ejercicio físico, asegurarán su bienestar presente y futuro. Y es en este contexto en el que la dieta aporta beneficios para la salud.

Cuando elegimos comer alimentos saludables, tenemos que pensar que el tiempo y el dinero gastado en ellos es, de hecho, una gran inversión. En realidad, este tiempo y dinero se traducirá en un gran ahorro de dinero en tratamientos , médicos, hospitales, etc..

Una dieta equilibrada acompañada de actividad física ayuda a prevenir muchas enfermedades como las relacionadas con el corazón, la hipertensión, los derrames cerebrales, la diabetes, etc.

Las funciones cognitivas también se benefician de una dieta saludable.
