Es común confundir la obesidad y el sobrepeso. Aunque las dos cosas tienen un factor común, difieren de una manera muy clara: el nivel de severidad. Analicemos cuáles son las diferencias y similitudes, así como las consecuencias que traen consigo.

Obesidad y sobrepeso: por qué la obesidad es más grave

Se trata de una enfermedad crónica que aparece cuando hay un exceso de grasa en el cuerpo . Esta enfermedad tiene efectos negativos, como acentuar la aparición de patologías como diabetes, hipertensión, complicaciones cardiovasculares e incluso algunos tipos de cáncer, especialmente gastrointestinales.

Las personas cuyo peso iguala o supera en un treinta por ciento el punto medio de la escala de peso según el índice de masa corporal se consideran obesas . La excepción son las personas muy musculosas.

Causas de la obesidad

  • Mala potencia . Exceso de grasa en la dieta, comer en el momento equivocado.
  • Falta de ejercicio físico . Se recomienda hacer ejercicio al menos tres veces por semana.
  • Factores genéticos . Mutaciones genéticas, ritmo metabólico de las personas.
  • Factores orgánicos . Resistencia a la insulina, bajos niveles de leptina.
  • Factores socioeconómicos . Las comidas rápidas y ricas en grasa son generalmente más baratas que las frutas y verduras. Además, se ha comprobado que las personas con más estatus social tienen más tiempo para hacer dieta o ejercicio.
  • Factores psicológicos o trastorno emocional. Por ejemplo, una depresión, donde comer puede hacer que una persona se sienta mejor.

Síntomas de obesidad

  • Dificultad respiratoria . El exceso de grasa que se acumula debajo del diafragma y en la pared torácica puede ejercer presión sobre los pulmones.
  • Dormir . La dificultad para respirar puede interferir con el sueño, lo que causa apnea del sueño, causando somnolencia durante el día.
  • Problemas ortopédicos . Cómo el dolor de espalda baja – dolor en la parte baja de la espalda – acentuación de la artrosis, especialmente en el tobillo, las rodillas y la cadera.
  • Trastornos de la piel . Ya que no pueden eliminar el calor corporal eficientemente y tienden a sudar excesivamente.
  • Hinchazón.

Prevención de la obesidad

  • Dieta sana y equilibrada . Bajo en grasa y rico en frutas y verduras.
  • Práctica regular de ejercicios . Se recomienda practicar deportes tres veces por semana durante cuarenta y cinco minutos. Esto siempre se adapta a las necesidades y al estado físico de cada persona.
  • Comer cinco veces al día, en porciones reducidas .

Tipos

Existen dos tipos de obesidad, la central , que es la más grave y puede traer complicaciones graves , y en la que la grasa se encuentra en el tronco. Y el periférico , en el que la grasa se acumula de la cintura para abajo y trae problemas de sobrecarga en las articulaciones.

Obesidad mórbida

Para tratar esta obesidad, es necesaria la cirugía , que puede ser de dos tipos: – que puede ser de dos tipos: restrictivo y disabsortivo.

La cirugía restrictiva consiste en reducir el tamaño del estómago para que el paciente no pueda comer grandes cantidades de alimentos. Se utiliza un desabsorbente para inducir una menor absorción de alimentos.

Obesidad infantil

Es una alteración endocrinometabólica que conduce a un mayor riesgo cardiovascular en la edad adulta.

Diferencias entre obesidad y sobrepeso: características del sobrepeso

Las personas cuyo peso iguala o excede en un veinticinco por ciento el punto medio de la escala de peso según el índice y la masa corporal se consideran con sobrepeso.

El sobrepeso se caracteriza por aumento de peso corporal y se acompaña de acumulación de grasa en el cuerpo . No se considera una enfermedad , pero es un factor que puede llevar a desarrollar enfermedades como diabetes, hipertensión, ataques cardíacos y algunos tipos de cáncer.

Aunque la obesidad y el sobrepeso no sean lo mismo, las causas, los síntomas y la forma de prevención son los mismos. Por lo tanto, lo más importante es tener una dieta equilibrada y practicar deportes regularmente, independientemente de los factores genéticos y socioeconómicos.
